Westport 40 is a bumper festival of athletics to celebrate Westport Athletics Club’s 40th anniversary.
The weekend will commence with the Mile Festival, Friday, September 13th, Westport Track, 6 pm. This is a series of mile races to celebrate Ireland’s glory days of mile running 40 years ago, for ages from 8 to 80, with a show stopping club senior male and female mile. Registration for this event is available on the night at Westport Track.
On Saturday 14th September, the celebrations will continue with a 5K fun run suitable for all the family and our main event – a 10K race with an unrivalled top prize of €1,000 for the first male and female athlete, and a total prize fund for all races of €10,000.
10k PRIZES
The first 6 men and women home will win cash prizes:

Teams can include Senior, Junior or Masters athletes and will be 3 to score (aggregate times). There will not be separate Masters team prizes.

Registration & Number pick up will be available for the 10k & 5k races at the following times:
- Friday 13th September from 8.00pm – 9.30pm at Westport Leisure Park
- Saturday 14th September from 8.00am – 10.00am at Westport Leisure Park
Registration for Friday’s mile event will take place on the track on Friday only.
Bag drop available on Saturday morning.
Light refreshments and prize giving afterwards the Leisure Park.

- 5K Family and Fun Run, 10.30 am start, Westport Town Centre. A gentle run through Westport, Westport Quay and Westport House for people of all ages and abilities. Adult Entry €10 + processing fee. U-16 Entry €5 on the day. Family Entry €20 on the day.
- 10K Celebration Race, 11:00 am start, Westport Town Centre. A fast race towards Croagh Patrick to Westport Quay and Westport House. Fantastic first, place, team, category prizes. Entry €20 + processing fee. First 200 entrants receive a uniquely designed t-shirt.
The weekend will conclude with a celebration buffet in the Wyatt Hotel.Tickets for the buffet will cost €12.50 per person.
