The Streets of Portlaoise 5k Road Race takes place on Thursday 17th March 2022 at 11.00am.  This years event is also the opening race of the 2022 KIA race series.

**ELITE ENTRIES: Sub 15 min male, Sub 17 female. Email office@popupraces.ie to request an entry as part of the Kia Race Series.

**NOTE ENTRY IS LIMITED **

**The event will take place subject to it being safe to do so, in line with any public health guidelines in place at the time**

A fast flat course (AAI Measured & Permitted) with a great atmosphere attracting elite runners, walkers and joggers.

The race will start close to the old Centrepoint Shopping Centre on the Mountrath road, run down main street before heading out the ridge road, back up Mountmellick road, right up harpers lane and down the Mountrath road. The finish line will remain at the bottom of Main street Portlaoise.

 

Registration is €17.50 + fees and participants can register online only. This includes postage of your race number.

THERE IS NO ON THE DAY REGISTRATION, AND TO FACILATE POSTING OF NUMBERS, REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 9AM ON MONDAY MARCH 14TH

 

Top prizes for first 5 senior male and female and the following race categories O/40, O/45, O/50, 055 & first Junior male/female (U/20).  Course record cash prizes for both male and female Senior runners – €500 each. Medal for all participants.

Below is some information to help you make the most of the event:

What time does the race start?
The race will start at 11am sharp

Where does the race start and finish?
The race starts on the R445, just beyond "Centrepoint Portlaoise", the old shopping centre. It finishes at the bottom of the main street, approximately 1km from the start.

• Where do I collect my race number?
For the majority of participants, you will have received your race number by post.

If you deferred from 2020, you can pick your race number up between 9:30am and 10:30am at the Pop Up Races tent outside Centrepoint Portlaoise, by the start line. If your number did not arrive by post, you can get a spare here too.

Where can I park?

Midlands Park Hotel, Laois Co.Co, Lyster Square, Kea Lew business Park. All are within walking distance from the start line.

• Will the course be marked?
The race route will be clearly marked and marshalled along the way and there will be markers at each Kilometer.

• What prizes will be awarded?
Cash Prizes will be awarded as follows:
Top 5 Males & Females

1st Male & Female in O40-O45-O50 and Junior Category

Course record bonus also on offer from KIA of €500 male & female

• When and where will the presentations take place?
1 - 5 will be done at the finish line immediately after the race. Category prizes will be posted out next week.

Due to the ongoing Covid safety measures, there will be no post race refreshments as previous years. All athletes will receive a drink and some fruit at the finish line.

 • When will the results be available?
As the race is chip-timed, your result will be available straight away and full results will be available online soon after the race ends on popupraces.ie
