Welcome to the Mile Marker, a 5k, 5 mile or 10 mile event to raise funds for St. Michaels NS, Danesfort, Co. Kilkenny.

 

There is also a family 1 Mile event taking place at 11:40, with the main event kicking off at 12 noon.

 

There will be a fantastic tech top on offer for all participants

Dear Competitor,

A huge thank you for choosing The Mile Marker. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Danesfort on Sunday.

Just a little information for you to make your race day run as smoothly as possible.

*Number pickup takes place on Saturday, June 8th from 5pm-7pm and again on Sunday morning, June 9th from 9.30am-11.30am in St. Michael’s N.S. Danesfort (R95 X527)

**Please note**

Participants who opted for number postage, you must still come to St. Michael’s N.S. to pick up your race t-shirt.

*On race day, parking facilities are located at the Danesfort GAA grounds beside St. Michael’s N.S.

*Toilet facilities are located at the school.

Mile Dash

There will be a warmup for the children at the school at 11.30am. The children will then walk 100m to the starting line for the Mile Dash which takes off at 11.40am sharp.

5km

The 5km race starts outside the GAA grounds and finishes at the school. Your 5km race commences at 12 noon.

This is an out and back course.

Safety Note: Roads are open for the duration of the race. Traffic management is in place. All runners to run on the right hand side of road and stay inside the traffic cones where provided.

There will be water available at the turnaround point.

The finish line is located to the rear of the school with the last 150m on grass.

 

5 Mile

The 5 mile starts outside the GAA grounds and finishes at the school. Your 5 mile race commences at 12.10pm

The 5 mile is one loop consisting of all right turns.

Safety Note: Roads are open for the duration of the race. Traffic management is in place. All runners to run on the right hand side of road and stay inside the traffic cones where provided.

There are 2 water stations on this loop. One at approx. 2.5 miles in and the second at approx. the 3.5 mile mark.

The finish line is located to the rear of the school with the last 150m on grass.

10 Mile

Your 10 mile race starts outside the GAA grounds and finishes at the school. Your 10 mile race commences at 12.10pm.

The 10 mile is 2 loops, consisting of all right turns.

Safety Note: Roads are open for the duration of the race. Traffic management is in place. All runners to run on the right hand side of road and stay inside the traffic cones where provided.

 

**Please note** There is a short dog leg (150m) on the second loop (at approx. 8.25miles)You will be alerted to this by a marshal.

There are 5 water stations for your race.

The first is at approx. 2.5 miles, the second at approx. 3.5 miles, the third at approx. 5.5 miles, the fourth at approx. 7.5 miles and the last at approx. 8.5 miles.

The finish line is located to the rear of the school with the last 150m on grass.

*Water and fruit will be available to all participants at the finish line.

*There will also be tea/coffee, sandwiches and treats for all competitors.

*We will have a BBQ on site on the day. There will be a small charge for this.
