Event organisers Rachel Mahon & Mark Larkin

“We want to create an event where all Marks Family & Friends can come together each year to remember Mark & to create awareness of CRY Ireland & all the amazing work they do to support families. And if you did not know Mark, please join us to take on the fantastic course in Rathwood and maybe run your first pb of 2024!

How do I sum up Mark in a paragraph 🤔 he might have only lived till he was 26 but he lived life to the fullest, he probably fitted more into his 26 years than most people would do if they lived to 100, if you were his friend you had a friend for life, he was honest, loyal, strong, determined, he always said he would run a marathon by 25 & he did in October 2020, he loved to run so that’s why we have decided to do something he loved in his memory each year & hopefully with enough support we will be able to run the Mark Mahon 5km each year.  The fact that Mark often ran the track in Rathwood makes the event extra special because when we are running it we know that Mark has ran the same path.

Mark was a solider in Kilkenny barracks & Marks family are so honoured that the defence force have donated a trophy in Marks name for the 1st person to cross the finish line!
