St Abban’s AC are organising A fast, flat 5km race on the Laois, Carlow and Kilkenny border.
Only a stone’s throw from the coal mines in Castlecomer, Rossmore and Wolfhill. Ideally located only a short drive from Carlow town, Portlaoise, Kilkenny and Dublin.

Dear participants,
All at St Abban’s A.C look forward to welcoming you to our first running of The Coal Miner’s 5km. Please read the information below carefully to ensure you are fully informed ahead of race day on Sunday February 1st.
Race Headquarters: St Abban’s AC clubhouse will be the race headquarters. It’s is located at R93WA24
Parking: Car parking is available at St Abban’s Ac sports complex. Please follow parking instructions from stewards.
Number + T Shirt Collection in St. Abban's A.C. clubhouse.
Number and T Shirt collection will take place on: -Saturday January 31st from 4-6pm
-Sunday February 1st from 8:40-9:40am
Race Details: The race will begin at 10am sharp from St Mary’s Church- located 300m from St Abban’s AC.
The course is an “out and back” course which starts and finishes at St Mary’s Church. On the way out please stay on the left-hand side, and also on the left-hand side on your return.
The road will be closed from 9:50am until 11am. Please follow instructions from stewards and Gardai to ensure everyone’s safety. Refreshments and Prize Giving: Refreshments and prize giving will take place afterwards at St Abban’s AC. Everyone is invited back to the club for a cup of tea and chat about how the race went.
