Welcome to the home of the Kinsale 10 Mile road race.

Hosted by: Riverstick Kinsale Athletic Club & Kinsale Community School.

The race is set in the beautiful surrounds of Kinsale on a course with real potential for PBs with a fast final 5 mile net downhill section.

We have had some great feedback from our races in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023 and hope to make the event even better for 2024.

We would be delighted if you could join us again in 2024 and come to enjoy all the hospitaliy that Kinsale has to offer.

Entry Fee 25 euro(plus 1.63 processing fee)

Race Start and Finish at Kinsale Community School

Over 18 years only are permitted to enter the race

Entry non-refundable/non-transferable

Buggies/Strollers not permitted

All proceeds of the race are for Kinsale Youth Support Services, Kinsale Community School Track Facilities and Riverstick Kinsale Athletic Club

Race Weekend: Race Numbers and t-shirt pick up on morning of race (25th of February ) and on day before race (24th of February) at Kinsale Community School

Please note for all races starting in 2023 the board of Athletics Ireland has established the requirement for all non-Athletics Ireland registered runners to purchase a One Day Licence (2 euro) during the registration process. This fee goes directly to Athletics Ireland not the race organisers. This fee does not apply to Athletics Ireland registered club members. See Athletics Ireland website for further information.

Kinsale 10 mile Sunday 25th of February 2024 at 12pm

General Race information and FAQs

 

  1. Where are race headquarters?
    Kinsale Community School. The race will be signposted on all major routes coming into Kinsale.

 

  1. Where and when is race number and t-shirt collection?
    Friday 23rd Feb 18.00 to 20.00 Kinsale Community School.

Saturday 24th Feb 12.00 to 14.00 , 17.00 to 18.00  Kinsale Community School.

Sunday 25th Feb 09.00 to 11.15 Kinsale Community School.

 

  1. Where is start of race?

The start line is on the road outside the main gate of Kinsale Community School at 12pm

 

  1. Where is finish of race?

At the finish the race will enter the track and turn right, running anti-clockwise around 3 sides of the track. The finish line will be on the straight at the school side of the track.

 

  1. What must I do with the chip?
    The chip will be attached to your race number. Do not bend or try to fold your number as this could damage the chip and you will not receive a time. Numbers must be worn on the front of your vest/shirt. NOT on the shorts. This is so that the chip can be read accurately.

 

  1. Are there toilets at the start line?
    Toilets are available in Kinsale Community School main building and will be signposted.
  2. Will there be a baggage area?
    There will be an un-supervised baggage area in Kinsale Community School - please do not bring valuables. This will be signposted.

 

  1. Will there be water stations on the course? Yes - There will be water stations around mile 2.5 and 7.5 and also at finish.

 

  1. Will there be first aid facilities there?
    Yes there will be an ambulance and first aid present for the duration of the event.

 

  1. Where can I warm up?
    The track is available as a warm up area. The car park in front of the track and the roads adjacent to the school can also be used.

 

  1. Will there be post-race refreshments? Yes at Kinsale Community School.

 

  1. Can I transfer/cancel my number?
    Transfers/cancellations are not permitted.

 

  1. Are IPods/ MP3’s permitted?

I Pods, MP3’s etc. are not permitted for safety on the route.

 

  1. Are there parking facilities available?

The race start/finish and main Race HQ is all at Kinsale Community School. There is very limited parking at the school and there is no parking on the road outside the school as this is part of the race route.

 

There is parking a short walk from the school grounds which will be signposted and there will be stewards to direct you to this parking. It will be a 10 minute walk from there to the school grounds - please plan ahead to allow time for this. Please follow Kinsale 10 mile race/parking signs as you approach Kinsale. This parking may not be able to accommodate the entire attendance at the Kinsale 10 mile road race and we advise that further public parking within the town is also available for those who feel this may suit them better.

 

This public parking within Kinsale town is about a 15 minute walk to the school and there is an unsupervised bag-drop area at the school for anyone who may need this.

Caution: This Race will take place on OPEN ROADS to traffic and participants are advised to remain aware of this throughout the race and to follow the instructions of our course marshals and the Gardaí who will assist us on the day. Unfortunately we can't facilitate runners with buggy’s/strollers and we ask that all participants follow the advice of our course marshals throughout and not to wear headphones/earphones.
