Welcome to the Allihies 5 Mile Road Race in conjunction with Beara AC

Allihies Hall and Sports Committee in conjunction with Beara AC look forward to welcoming you to Allihies on Saturday 25th September 2021 for the second race of our annual 5 Mile Autumn Road Race Series. We are delighted to have Murphy’s SUPERVALU, Castletownbere as our main sponsor again this year. Please support all our sponsors.

The race takes place in Allihies. The start line is located near to Race HQ. It is a two lap, left-handed, anti-clockwise course that takes you out towards the coast and down to Ballydonegan Strand and up to the village to do the second lap. The course is measured by Mark Gallagher, Beara AC (Athletics Ireland
Approved Road Course Measurer)

Some important information about the event:
*Event Starts at 2.30pm
*This is Race 2 of a 4 Race Series.
*Those entering all four races will receive a commemorative 2021 Beara A.C. race series Medal
*Single Race entry: €20 (+booking fee)
*Race Number postage is included on both individual & bundle entries up to the Monday before the event

* Prizes for 1st, 2nd 3rd place Male & Female and category prizes from Junior (15-18yr) to masters.

We have worked hard to make this event safe and enjoyable for all participants and volunteers.

PARTICIPANT DECLARATION

By attending our event, you are confirming the following in relation to Covid
19 regulations:
1. I am not displaying any COVID-19 symptoms.
2. I have not been in close contactwith anyone with symptoms
of Covid-19 in the last 14 days.
3. I am not in a period of self-isolation and/or cocooning under
the current Health Policy Rules.
4. I have not been out of the country in the last 14 days.

RACE-DAY INFORMATION
ALLIHIES 5 MILE ROAD RACE. SATURDAY 25th SEPTEMBER 2021. START 2:30pm
We have worked hard to make this event safe and enjoyable for all participants and
volunteers. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with what you can do on the day to
help the event run smoothly.
Please note –
NO SPECTATORS will be permitted on the course. The only people on the course should be
registered participants and pre-approved volunteers. Please do not bring friends or family to
the event.
CAR-POOLING IS NOT ADVISED.
REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE ON THE DAY UP TO 1:45pm
No unregistered participants may take part.
Toilets are available in the hall. Please remain socially distanced when queuing.
There is NO BAG DROP FACILITY. Please keep your bags/personal items in your car.
There is ample car parking by the hall. Volunteer stewards will assist you. When arriving
please be mindful of social distancing.
When warming up please move away from the race course and OBSERVE SOCIAL
DISTANCING.
Please BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE with you and carry it on the course if you will
need it.
Athletes will be called to the start line two minutes prior to the Race Start at 2:30pm. There
is NO REQUIREMENT FOR WAVES and the race will have a single start. We request that you
respect other participants and observe social distancing. THIS RACE IS A CHIP TIMED EVENT
and your time will start when you cross the start line.
Familiarise yourself with course route. IT IS A TWO-LAP COURSE.
Please WEAR YOUR BUFF/MASK/FACE COVERING in the start area before the start of the
race and in the finish area afterwards. You may remove your face mask / buff during the
race.

Do not litter the COURSE with disposable masks. Anyone doing so risks disqualification and
not registering a time.

We have a GP & RED-CROSS AMBULANCE SERVICE available on the course. Contact a
Steward if you need assistance.
Please USE THE HAND SANITISATION points available to you at the course start and in hall
area where toilets are located.
Participants and volunteers should remain socially distanced avoiding all contact,
handshakes etc, and use cough/sneeze etiquette.
When on the course, please keep a SOCIAL DISTANCE WHEN OVERTAKING and avoid
spitting.
Please remain alert and listen to event announcements. HEADPHONE USE IS NOT
PERMITTED.
When you have completed your run please MOVE AWAY FROM THE FINISH AREA. Due to
covid restrictions there will be NO POST-RACE PRIZE
