Athlone Athletics Club invite you to the 3rd staging of their Half Marathon and 10k, taking place at 10am on Sunday 21 September 2025. The Club is looking forward to welcoming new and returning runners of all abilities to our fast flat course. Our race starts and finishes on the TUS Athlone Campus running track and takes in the beautiful Athlone-Mullingar Greenway.

The entry fee includes posting of bib number and t-shirt. Race medals will be given to all finishers on race day. Light refreshments will be provided post-race.

Be sure to get your entries in as early as possible. Due to the nature of our race route we are limited to a total of 500 participants. Once these entries are filled we cannot add more.

RACE DAY INFORMATION FOR ALL RUNNERS:
Race headquarters and start line: TUS Athlone Main Campus. Eircode N37 HD68. Parking will be available on campus adjacent to the start line which is on the Running Track. There will be an overflow carpark at the TUS East Campus which is a five minute walk from the start line. Please follow the instructions of the parking stewards.
Please note that while the rest of the campus parking is free, use of the underground parking at the Arena will incur a charge of 3 euro for up to 3 hours and 5 euro thereafter There are no coin machines in operation and payment must be made through the APCOA app or using a Scan Pay QR code.
Posting of bib numbers and t-shirts to all participants started on Thursday 11th September. If you have not received your pack by race day please come to the start line by 9.15 a.m. on Sunday morning where you will be issued a new bib number.
Toilets will be available in the TUS Arena and the Student’s Union Hub and there will be portaloos on the Greenway section of the race route.
Bag drop will be provided in the tent at the infield. There will be a steward present here for the duration of the race.
Participants will assemble at the infield area of the running track at 9.30 a.m. for a pre-race briefing. From 9.40-9.45 a.m. participants will assemble at the start area on the track. The race for both distances will start at 10 a.m. sharp. Please follow the instructions of the road marshals.
The event takes place on footpaths, roads and the (Old Rail Trail) Greenway which are not closed to the public. Participants should be aware that other users are expected to be on the route in places. Participants must run on the left on the Greenway and must adhere to the instructions of the road and bike marshals at all times. Water stations will be available at approx. 500m before the 10k turnaround point (4.5 km) and at the half marathon turnaround point. Please support us in keeping a clean environment by disposing of your bottles and gel wrappers in the bins provided.
On returning to campus runners will re-enter the track and complete ¾ of a lap to the finish line.
Following the finish runners will be directed to the recovery area and bag drop, and then across to the Student’s Union Hub where tea/coffee, cakes and sandwiches will be provided.
Prize giving for individuals will take place on the running track. The winning team prizes will be presented in the Student's Union Hub.
