South Galway AC is delighted to announce we will be holding our annual road race on Sunday, February 13th at 13:30. The course and race distance this year of 5km race is identical to previous years.  The course brings the runners through the town of Gort and around the hinterland of the town along scenic country roads.  The race will start at the top end of the town (George’s Street) and will finish on the old Ennis road close to Gort Community Centre.

 There is ON THE DAY REG for those that missed online

As per previous years technical running tees will be guaranteed for entries prior to February 1st. After that its based on available stock!

 

The race is Chip Timed, will be AI permitted and Jones Counter Measured.

REGISTRATION AND NUMBER COLLECTION

Number and T-shirt Pick up will be available from 11.30am at the race HQ which is located in Gort Community Centre at the top of the town beside Gort Community School.

ARRIVAL

Sufficient car parking is available at the community centre/Community School approx 400m from the race start line. You will be directed by our parking stewards.

Toilet and changing room facilities will be available at the community centre.

Please arrive allowing plenty of time for number pick up and to make your way to the assembly.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Traffic will be stopped for a short time at the beginning of each race, so please allow for this delay.
  • Start Time is 1:30pm. As the race start line is located approx. 400m from race HQ, assembly for the race will take place at 1:20pm in the community centre car park.
  • Following our pre-race safety briefing race marshalls will walk ALL entrants to the start line. As the start line is on a main street it is essential that all entrants obey the directions of race marshalls at all times.
  • Please make sure you run across the mat at the start line so that your time is recorded. The races are chipped and your results will be available online after the race on the Pop Up Races site.

DURING THE RACE

Please KEEP LEFT at all times during your race unless directed otherwise by race marshalls. Please obey marshalls at all times

FINISH LINE

  • Bottled water and fruit will be available at the finish line.
  • Please do not congregate at the finish line.
  • Please use bins provided for fruit peelings and water bottles – help us keep Gort Gorgeous.

POST RACE REFRESHMENTS

  • When you have completed your race refreshments (Tea, Coffee, sandwiches, cakes) will be available at race HQ in Gort Community Centre.

KEY POINTS

We are delighted that all restrictions have been lifted, but we still have a shared responsibility around hand hygiene etc. If you are feeling unwell, please stay at home. Please respect our marshalls and volunteers at all times. They are here for your safety and we are indebted to the time they give so freely.
