Taking part on a 5k loop in the grounds of the beautiful Donadea Forest in Co. Kildare, Donadea Running Club and their proud sponsors Croí Laighean Credit Union are delighted to present the ever popular Donadea 10K and 5K.

Car park barriers will be open from 18:30 to 19:30. Anyone driving into the forest park before 18:30 or after 19:30 may be liable to pay the cark park entry fee of €5 by tapping a debit card at the entrance barrier.

Donadea 5K and 10K Event Day Instructions

Both races will start in front of Donadea Castle at 7:30pm sharp.

Online race number collection and on the day race entries will take place at the tent in front of the castle from 6:30pm until 7:20pm.

On the day entry is €25 for the 5K and €30 for the 10K. Cash entries only. Please do your best to bring the exact entry fee if entering on the day.  While it is intended that every finisher will get a medal, it may not be possible to provide medals to those who choose to sign up on the day.

Please enter the forest through the main entrance. The car park barrier will be up from 6:30pm until 7:30pm. If you choose to arrive before 6:30pm please be aware that you will be liable to pay the car park entry fee of €5 which is paid using the contactless payment pad at the barrier.

The course consists of a 5K loop completed once for 5k participants and twice for 10k runners. The course will be marked at every km. The start and finish line will both be in front of Donadea Castle beside registration and a 2 minute walk from the car park. Please do not block the barrier if you arrive early as event organisers, medics and other park users will be also entering in advance of 6:30.

There will be pacers for 45 minutes, 50 minutes, 55 minutes and 60 minutes for the 10k event.

St. John’s Ambulance will be in attendance for the duration of the event.

There will be a water station at the start of the loop. 250ml sport cap bottles will be available at the water station to all 10k runners as they pass to start their second lap. 500ml water bottles and bananas will be available to all participants at the finish line.

The race is run on the leave no trace principal (http://www.leavenotraceireland.org.) There will be bins at the start/finish area and with any marshals on duty. Please do not litter the course and please use the bins for any gels, bottles or wrappers that you may use on the course. Do not leave any gels, bottles, any foodstuffs of any kind at the km markers or directional signs.

Participants will be presented with their event medal at the finish line. 5K finishers will receive a medal with a white ribbon and 10K finishers will receive a medal with a green ribbon.

Chip timing is provided by Pop Up Races and your timing chip is part of your race number. Please wear your number clearly visible on the front of your body. Race results will be posted on the Pop Up Races website shortly after the race finishes.

Directions - From Dublin take (N4) leave the motor way at junction 8 (Kilcock), head towards Clane (R407). At approximately 6km, turn right at Baltreacy cross and drive through minor crossroads and continue straight. The forest entrance is circa 2km on the left hand side.

From the west (M4), get off at junction 8 (Kilcock) 1st exit after toll, and follow directions above.

From the south (M7), take the Naas exit, junction 9. Drive towards Sallins, Clane and follow signs for Kilcock. Entering Clane Main Street, turn left at Circle K garage and drive 6+km, up to Baltreacy cross, turning left and following directions above.

There will be portaloos available close to the start/finish area which 10K runners will also pass at the 5k point.

The forest park is normally scheduled to close at 9pm. While we have secured extra time beyond 9pm we would still ask all participants to do their best to exit the park promptly after they have finished and have collected their medals.
