The New Year’s Eve 10K Road Race organised by Grange Fermoy AC will be held on Tuesday 31st December and will start at 12 noon.
Parking will be available at Glanworth GAA, in the School car park and at the bottom of the village in the Old Creamery.
Online registrations are open from the 24th of October to the 30th of December at 23:00pm. Minimum age for participation is 18 on the day of race.
Entries limited to 450.
AAI Permit Granted.
The timing will be done by POPUP RACES.
Race numbers can be collected on the day of the race from 10am onwards at our HQ which is Glanworth Community Centre. Eircode: P51F248. Refreshments will be served there after the race.
The race is run on a one lap loop course, starting just over the old bridge, 200m from Glanworth Community Centre. The runners will head straight over the bridge and towards the bottom of the village. They will turn right and run towards Kildorrery. They will turn left at the first crossroad (across from play ground) and will continue on that road till String Cross (Km 4) where they will turn left. Just after km 6, runners will turn left again at Rahard Cross. At Km 8 they will turn left for the last time at Egan’s Cross and will head straight towards the village. The finish line will be on the left hand side near the top of the village.
Prizes for the 10K are as follows:

First 6 male and female
First wheelchair male and female
First 2 junior male and female: minimum age is 18 on day of the race
First 2 in each age category, male and female: 35/40/45/50/55/60/65/70/75/80

We are delighted to welcome you to GLANWORTH, CO.CORK (P51F248) for the Grange Fermoy New Years Eve 10k at 12.00 noon on Tuesday 31st December 2024. We look forward to welcoming you for our second race of 2024.
Please read the information below carefully.
RACE DAY INFO:
- CAR PARKING
There will be 4 official car parks:
- Glanworth GAA Pitch P51N802
- Glanworth National School P51DP04
- Old Creamery Yard, bottom of village
- Clotilde Fitzgibbon’s farm yard P51HR99 (100m from start line)
- All Numbers and T-shirts will be available for collection at the Community Centre in the village from 10:00am on the morning of the race and also from 2.30 to 4.30pm on Monday 30th December at the Community Centre. T-shirts sizes are not guaranteed.
- Toilets will be available in the Community Centre, at the GAA pitch and 2 portaloos will be situated outside the GAA grounds.
RACE:
- Strictly O18 only
- Race start time is: 12 noon. The start is on the R512, 400m from the GAA pitch (1 mile from the Community Centre) and the finish line is at the top of the Ballyhooly Road. (See map attached below)
- The race route is marked in Kilometres.
- Bags may be dropped at the Community Centre and GAA dressing rooms. A changing room will be available at Community Centre and GAA dressing rooms.
- Water will be available at the finish line ONLY.
- Race numbers must be fully visible coming through the finish gate, worn on the front of your singlet/t-shirt only. The swapping of race numbers is strictly prohibited.
- Race results will be published on Facebook and PopUpRaces.ie
- Online entry fees are non-refundable and are closing on Monday 30th December at 2pm or before if the limit of 450 entries is reached.
PRIZES: ALL PRIZES WILL BE GIVEN AFTER THE RACE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTRE
- Cash prizes for 1st (€250), 2nd (€150), 3rd (€100), 4th (€75), 5th (€60), 6th (€50) male & female finishers, Wheelchair 1st(€50).
- Extensive list of category prizes for 1st (€40) & 2nd (€20); juniors (O18), 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80.
POST RACE:
- Water and fruit will be distributed at the finish line. Please dispose of your empty plastic bottles in the rubbish bins at finish line and into the special plastic container at the Community Centre.
- After Race Refreshments will be served at the Community Centre and Brew Boys van will also be present near the Community Centre.
SAFETY:
- An AAI permit is granted for the race. Competitors participate at their own risk. Grange Fermoy AC accepts no responsibility or liability for any injury, loss of damage to persons or property incurred while attending and participating in this event.
- Race may be cancelled and refixed at any time. The race fee is non-refundable.
- The wearing of headphones is strictly prohibited. Any runner wearing headphones will be published in the results as ‘headphone wearer’ and will not be eligible for any prizes.
- The course will be marshalled by a large team of stewards. Please obey any of their instructions. This is to ensure the safe running of our event. Please note the roads will be open to traffic so normal rules of the road will be in force. The health & safety of all participants and spectators is our primary concern.
- A dedicated 1st aid team will be in operation on race day.
