Round 5 of the 2025 Healthy Offaly 5km Road Race Series

The annual Hugo Smith Memorial 5K road race is almost upon us. We are asking all
those intending to take part to pre-register online at the following link to avoid delays
on the morning at registration. Registration will remain open until 10pm on Saturday
17 th May.

 

The annual Hugo Smith Memorial 5K road race is now only days away. We are asking all those intending to take part to pre-register online at the following link to avoid delays on the morning at registration. Online registration will remain open until 12am on Sunday 18th May.

There have been a few updates regarding traffic since our original race information was posted. Please note the N62 between Birr and Cloghan is closed with diversions in place. Extra time may be needed to get to the race depending on where participants are coming from.

The most important point to note is: that all race parking will now be accommodated in Ferbane Business Park R42 YP98.This is to direct patrons away from Ferbane GAA to avoid coinciding with a recently scheduled football match which will take place at 11am.

On the day registration and race number collection will be in the Ferbane AC tent immediately adjacent to the Food Campus Offices in Ferbane Business Park from 8.30am to 9.30am on Sunday. There is additional parking at Gallen Community School, Lower Main Street, Ferbane R42 N8P8and at Gallen Utd FC’s grounds at R42 YV83 if required.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: FOR HEALTH & SAFETY REASONS PARKING IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE BALLYCUMBER ROAD BETWEEN FERBANE GAA AND THE BUSINESS PARK.

Toilet facilities and warm up areas are available in the Business Park which is approximately five minutes’ walkfrom the start line. The race starts approximately 400m from the Business Park entrance. Please allow yourself sufficient time to get from the Business Park to the start line. The race will start at 10am sharp.

Refreshments will be served in Ferbane GAA Centre after therace. Presentation of prizes will be made at approx. 11am. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st €100; 2nd €70; 3rd €50 – Male and Female. 1st O40 €50; 1st O45 €50, 1st O50 €50; 1st O60 €50, 1st O70 €50 – Male and Female. 1st Junior Male & Female €30. As the race is chip-timed, your result will be immediately after you cross the finish line and full results will be available online soon after the race ends on popupraces.ie.

 

 

**THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT TO NOTE – PLEASE ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME TO PARK, TO REGISTER IF REQUIRED AND TO GET TO THE START LINE BEFORE 10AM AS THE RACE WILL START ON TIME**

Parking is available in Ferbane Business Park R42 YP98 and in Ferbane GAA R42VW29. On the day registration and race number collection is in the Ferbane AC tent immediately adjacent to the Food Campus Offices in Ferbane Business Park from 8:00am to 9:30am on Sunday.

Parking is also available at Gallen Community School, Lower Main Street, Ferbane R42 N8P8. There will be further additional car parking available in Gallen Utd FC’s grounds at R42 YV83.

Toilet facilities and warm up areas are available in the Business Park and GAA Centre which is approx. 15 – 20 minutes from the start line. The race starts on the R436 Ballycumber Road at Keelogue, approximately 850m (12 minute walk) from the Business Park entrance. Please allow yourself sufficient time to get from the GAA Centre or Ferbane Business Park to the start line. The race will start at 10am sharp.

Refreshments will be served in the GAA Centre after the race. Presentation of prizes will be made at approx. 11am.

Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st €100; 2nd €70;3rd €50 – Male and Female. 1st O40 €50; 1st O45 €50, 1st O50 €50; 1st O60 €50, 1st O70 €50 – Male and Female. 1st Junior Male & Female €30.
